My Liver...

I'm sorry to my liver , I didn't take care of him. When I was a senior high school student , I went to bed regularly at eleven o'clock. Slept enough for almost eight hours a day. But everything went different when I became a college student. I was used to sleep later and later , now , it's too early for me to go to bed before two o'clock. There is a big difference between them.

Actually , I don't like to go to bed so late , but there are too many things are waiting for me. Especially in Thursday night , it has became a normality to write my Biology Experiment from the night to the early morning. After several times , I was used to sleep late at night. I even couldn't sleep before two o'clock. And I slept in class more and more often. It isn't a good habit , but it is not easy to overcome if I still under the pressure of study. Maybe my liver will explode someday...

Energy Crisis

The price of oil has become higher and higher. And everything became more expensive to reflect the price of oil. Everyone started to complain the prices is too high for them to afford. What happened? There must had some reasons to explain the effect.

For the most basic reason , there is a limit of the supply of oil. The oil had been used for centuries. According to research , the oil can use for fifty years only. If that day came , I couldn't image how horrible it would be.

To solve this problem , we must decrease the energy we use. Like turn off the electric equipment while you don't use it. Take public transportation rather than driving your own car. Increase the degree of air conditioner. And create new source of energy actively , like solar energy and nuclear energy. After all , to economize to avoid running short.

The Finial Research - Pteridophyte

The finial research of the Biology Experiment has to choose an organism to do long-term research. Our group chose the organism - Pteridophyte , a group of original plant. We had to do two part , to recognize and to plant for experiment.

For the first part , we went to the BBQ area (maybe...) of our school and looked for Pteridophyte. It's really kind of difficult job. The Pteridophyte was hard to recognize , and there were large amount of mosquito. For the second part , we chose a kind of Pteridophyte - Pteris dimidiata Willd(半邊羽裂鳳尾蕨) and planted them in our room. We separated them into seven plants , one was a comparison , the others were control. We control the conditions of light , dark , wet , dry , wind and heat. In the pictures were Miles and I planting the Pteridophyte. We wore the cloth of experiment , rubber gloves and a mask , just for fun......

We spent a lot of time on this research , hope we could have a good result in the end.

Frog Skeleton Model

Continued from the last blog , I should made up a frog skeleton model by the frog I anatomized. Before making up it , the skeleton should soaked in soapsuds for about five days. The soapsuds should be changed and removed the remnant muscle everyday. It took me several hours a day to do that. When all the muscle and fat had been removed , soaked them in 3% Dioxidane to bleach. Then started to made up the model.

The bone separated in many small piece , especially the hand and the toe. It took me a long time to piece them together with gum. I started at about 7 p.m. , and when there is 8 a.m. , I still hadn't finished yet!

I made up the model with another three people , we organized a band. My frog is the one who takes a electric bass. There are a singer , a electric guitarist and a drummer. Our skeleton models acquired admiration from our teacher. I think we really payed much attention on them.

Biology Experiment - Anatomize a FROG

In our Biology experiment , we had a lesson about anatomize a frog. Sounds like every student who study Life Science should do that at least one time.

In fact , anatomize a frog is quit interesting. First I cut the abdominal cavity of my frog , and then check all the organs with the textbook. Removed those organs one by one , liver , fatty body , stomach , intestine , testis(seems you are a male frog) , kidney , lung and heart. After that , I had a frog that without nothing in his stomach. Quit strange. Then , we had to remove the whole skin and most muscle tissue of the frogs. Everyone teared the frog hardly , blood and body fluid splashed everywhere.(juicy...) Then boiled them... That's because the frog had been cooked could easily remove their muscle tissue.

The frog should still be keep to make up a skeleton model for assignment. So we packaged the frog up and take them to our lovely dormitory....

Taiwan's passion for baseball has many roots

The baseball aroused Taiwan's passion again!

A researcher, Hsieh Shih-yuan, at the national Taiwan Museum who has studied the history of baseball in Taiwan, says the game is a healing force in the country.

For the Olympic Qualifying Tournament began recently, Taiwan actually did an excellent job. We got the one of three tickets to Beijing Olympics. Those young players, although some of us don't know who they are, did their best try to win every game, and it aroused Taiwan's passion and united Taiwan together. Just like Lin said on his blog "I love this! The qualifier is getting everybody together. This is what life should about: joy, tears and passion. Now I see a more united Taiwan."

Expect the younger players, there are many famous player, like Chien-ming Wang and Chin-huei Tsao. Seems there won't be lack in person of talent. Most important of all, we must do well in Beijing Olympics, to let everyone in the world knows Taiwan's baseball and passion.

Two-legged Dog

It’s a story about a dog , Faith , who have only two legs. She was born with a shriveled leg , which had been removed. Although Faith has an abnormal body , she still try hard to do everything just like a normal one. Like Faith walks “on foot” with her owner , Jude Stringfellow. Their story encourage many people , especially the one who is challenged. Faith bring hope and energy to those people.

I am impressed by the sentence " I want people to understand that you can be imperfect physically and still be perfect through your soul , through your spirit." Surely , the physical imperfection doesn't mean everything of one's life. Think with optimistic and positive mind , you're not the only one who is imperfect. It's more important to bring hope and inspires to yourself , and so to another , just like the two-legged dog , Faith.
